2021 marked a new record for mobile application usage, according to AppAnnie, even as growth rates are starting to slow down. Compared to the previous year, downloads were 230 billion (+5%), in-app spending reached 170 billion dollars (+19%), hours of use per person were 4,48 (+30 % compared to 2019).

The games with the most monthly users in the world were: PUBG Mobile, Roblox and Candy Crush Saga. It does not leave the Pokémon GO leaderboard.

The apps of Italians between pandemic and social networks

The ranking of the apps with which you spend the most sees DAZN, Disney+, Google One, Tinder and Netflix in the lead. Among the curiosities, the presence of Bigo Live, a streaming app that I had never heard of before.

By classifying software by sector, we have a clearer idea of our habits:

Gaming: The game with the most monthly active users in 2021 was, once again, Brawl Stars. In second place goes Roblox which sends Clash Royale to third. The most downloaded was Count Masters;

Finance: the financial applications with the highest number of users were PosteID, Postepay, Intesa SanPaolo. A novelty appears in tenth place: Binance, the cryptocurrency exchange;

Retail: in this area the leader remains Amazon, followed by Lidl Plus, Vinted and Shein;

Streaming Video: in 2021 the most downloaded was Amazon Prime Video, followed by RaiPlay and Netflix (which, according to other research, remains first for monthly users);

Food & Drink: the app with the most users was McDonalds, followed by JustEat, Too Good To Go, Deliveroo and The Fork;

Health & Fitness: if we exclude Verifcac19 (for verifying the green pass), the most downloaded apps were Yuka (for discovering the ingredients of food and cosmetic products) and those for analyzing motor activity such as Mi Fit and Step Counter;

Travel: in this context, Italians continue to download Google Maps, Booking, Waze, Transit Directions by Moovit and Google Earth;

Dating: the biggest downloads are from Tinder, but Badoo holds second place, then Azar, Meetic and Lovoo.
