Pokemon Sword and Shield - Guide to the best starter

Now is the time to decide in Pokemon Sword and Shield: Grookey, Scorbunny or Sobble?

Choosing your starter is one of the most important decisions you can make in any Pokemon game, and Pokemon Sword and Shield are no exception. If you are still undecided, relax, we have noticed something that can help you choose.

For the second time in Pokemon history, all three starters will remain monotype throughout the evolutionary line. Indeed, Scorbunny will remain a fire type pokemon, Sobble water type e Grookey grass type. It must be said, however, that all three will learn a variety of moves of many different types.

For the record, there won't be many differences in difficulty initially. The first three gym leaders will specialize, in order, in grass-type, fire-type and water-type Pokemon. This means that, in the short term, every starter will have the opportunity to assert himself, whether it is in the first, second or third gym.

Still speaking of short terms, Grookey is the best starter to start the adventure. In fact, in the first gym it will suffer reduced damage and will be super effective in the second. In the long run, however, the situation becomes more interesting, with Scorbunny ahead of the sixth head of the gym, specialized in the ice type. This, however, only applies in Pokemon Shield; in fact, the sixth Pokemon Sword gym will specialize in the rock type, making it back Grookey o Sobble the best choice. Hopefully, however, that already at that point you will have an excellent team if not more teams trained to cope with any situation (true you don't just train the starter, true ?!).

Also note that the paths before the first gym are full of different species of Pokemon, making the adventure easy even though you have chosen Sobble, which, I remind you, takes a lot of damage in the first gym. For example, in the Galar Mine, at the beginning of the game, you will be able to find many Woobats. In addition, other grass, fire and water-type pokemon are easily catchable as soon as the adventure begins, so you'll never be at an extreme disadvantage.

In summary, taking the "wrong" starter won't have a big impact on Pokemon Sword and Shield difficulty, so choose with confidence which one you like best without thinking about any repercussions.
