We are finally there, the expected update 5.0.0 for PS4 and PS4 Pro is available for download. The update in question has a size of 374MB and introduces a series of features and improvements including: the ability to stream at 1080p and 60 fps for PS4 Pro owners, new account management possibilities (also new in parental control), to organize lists of friends or follow accounts even if not verified, and even customizations of the interface for notifications and news for PlayStation VR owners.

  • You can now add your PS4 users as family members. This will make it easier for you to manage your child's account information and restrict PS4 functions. To add family members select (Settings)> Content Filtering / Family Management As a family manager you can set up your family. Up to seven family members (including you) can be part of the family and use online features. More adults can be part of the family. The family manager can make parents or guardians other adults in the family. The family administrator and family members who are parents or guardians can adjust the parental control of the family's children. You can configure the parental control settings for each child. Using the content filter, you can restrict the use of online features and communication with other players, set game restrictions, limit internet browser use and set spending limits for PlayStation Store. You can configure the content filter at any time from a PC or smartphone.
  • It is possible to add anyone, not just verified accounts. Select (Follow) on a person's profile screen and their activities and broadcasts will appear in (What's New). Automatically follow your friends, but you have the option to unfollow them. Advice on who to follow is now offered based on the games you play. Select (friends)> (Follow). You can now choose who can follow you and who can see your followed lists. Select (Settings)> (Account Management)> (Privacy Settings) and configure each setting.
  • (Custom Lists) have been added to (friends). Create custom lists to easily organize your friends and choose players to send messages or game invitations to.
  • For some broadcasts (Community) now appears on the (Live from PlayStation) Display Screen. To access the issuing player's community, select (Community).
  • Ability to view notifications in the quick menu.
  • The following languages ​​have been added as system languages: Czech, Indonesian, Hungarian, Romanian, Vietnamese, Greek, Thai.
  • While the PlayStation VR game is broadcasting, you can now see viewer comments on your VR headset screen.

Other features of version 5.00:

  • For (Messages) the screen layout has been improved and the following features have been added: You can now receive the music that has been shared with you as a message. Select the message to play the music. Messages containing a URL are now displayed as a preview.



  • The following functions have been added to the quick menu: You can now select (Leave this party) to leave the party You can now see the albums and playlists of the songs played in Spotify. A clock has been added.
  • The following functions have been added to (Settings)> (Notifications) you can disable pop-up notifications during video playback. You can choose the color of the pop-up notifications, whether to show or hide the details of the notification messages. Ability to stream in 1080p (60fps) when using Twitch on your PlayStation 4 PRO, enjoy Blu-ray Disc and DVD content with the virtual surround sound function when you connect the headset to PlayStation VR.
