Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War - Beta Arrives!

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War - Beta Arrives!

After the return of Modern Warfare last year, appreciated by critics and audiences, the historic saga of FPS Activision is back in the limelight thanks to Warzone, the hugely successful Battle Royale. Now also the Black Ops saga, historically developed by Treyarch (while MW was entrusted to Infinity Ward), he is about to return. In fact it is ready a soft reboot from the name Cold War, as happened with Modern Warfare. The game has already been available in alpha exclusively for PlayStation 4 players, but one is on the way beta open to all.

The trial periods for Cold War will be two, in next two weekends. Again, PlayStation users will have an edge. Indeed the first of these weekends will be exclusive to Sony console gamers. While it is already possible to pre-download, from tomorrow 8 October the beta will be open for players who have pre-ordered the title. From Saturday 10 October until Monday 12 it will be possible for all PlayStation 4 owners to try the Cold War beta.

The times will be similar for the second beta weekend, which will be instead also open to Xbox and PC players. It starts on Thursday 15 October for preorder owners (while on PS4 it will already be open to everyone), while from Saturday 17 to Monday 19 October the game will be available to everyone. Since then, the beta will close permanently and - unless new communications - it will no longer be possible to try the title before its release.

    To recap:

    • First period 8-12 October -  PlayStation 4 Exclusive
      • Starts for those who pre-ordered: Thursday 8 October
      • Start Open Beta: Saturday 10 October
      • First period closing: Monday 12 October
    • Second period 15-19 October - Open Beta
      • Beginning beta for Xbox and PC pre-orders - open on PS4: Thursday 15th October
      • Start Open Beta on Xbox and PC: Saturday 17 October
      • Open Beta closing: Monday 19th October

To underline the fact that PlayStation Plus membership will not be required on PlayStation 4 to try the beta while on Xbox you will need to be a Live Gold user. As for the PC it will be enough to have a battle.net account.

Finally, as regards the modes available in the Cold War beta, they will be five. Of course we can try the classics Team Deathmatch, Domination and Kill Confirmeda, but also the modalities VIP Escort and Combined Arms. As for maps and weapons we don't know exactly what we will have available, but it seems reasonable to expect a good part of what will be available at launch. As in the past, it will be possible to level up during the beta period with one reward in the final game for those who reach the tenth: a machine gun.

Please note that Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is expected on November 13th and will come out even on new generation consoles.
