Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Beginner's Guide

May the force be with you!

It is with this famous phrase that we introduce you to the world of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the new single player game by EA and Respawn Entertainment.

The game tells us about the adventures of Cal Kestis, a young Padawan who survived the extermination of the Jedi by the Galactic Empire (after order 66). During his perennial escape, the boy will be helped by BD-1, a friendly bipedal droid, and by the indomitable rebel Saw Gerrera.

If you are ready to face this new world, you cannot do without these useful tips that can illuminate your path.

Explore the game world

We know, it is a little useful advice, but given the clear Metroidvania inspiration of the game it is very apt.

Every Planet you visit is packed with shortcuts and connections, so be sure to check every corner before you jump into combat.

Also remember to return to the places already visited after obtaining a new ability, each Planet hides upgrades for BD-1 and many anecdotes of sure interest for lovers of the lore of the legendary series.

Dathomir, a place to visit

Star Wars fans will surely know this Planet, the birthplace of some interesting characters, such as the iconic Darth Maul and Asajj Ventress.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will provide you with the chance to visit this dangerous place very early in the game. The challenges you will have to face will mainly focus on combat, this is a great training for you, every living creature and it will not work together to take you out, will you be able to survive?

That said, go to Dathomir as soon as possible, in fact you can get an interesting upgrade of the lightsaber, which will be transformed into a double-bladed weapon, just like the one wielded by Darth Maul in "The Phantom Menace".

You will have other opportunities to get the same upgrade, but if you want to take advantage of it as soon as possible, Dathomir is the place for you.

Ask BD-1 for help

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order embodies several aspects taken from The Legend of Zelda series, such as the presence of puzzles to be solved within the various dungeons. While many of these are quite simple and straightforward, you will find more complex ones throughout history.

It is not mandatory to complete all the puzzles in the game, some will still be linked to the main campaign, the rest will allow you to collect collectibles and better understand the history of this new title.

If you can't immediately solve the puzzle, ask Navi for help (BD-1, sorry, but talking about Zelda has this effect on me) by pressing the "down" button on your d-pad. The cheerful robot will come to discuss with you the puzzle to be solved, within the conversations there are several clues on what to do or what power of the Force to use.

These hints will be vague enough not to make it too easy for you, so keep your ears and wits about solving these puzzles.

The usefulness of this droid is not limited to solving puzzles, but also in providing you with information about enemies and the surrounding environment.

Every now and then you will see BD-1 come off your shoulder and start scanning something, follow him and let him, especially if he is analyzing a dead body. With a thorough scan, the little droid will be able to provide you with a complete identikit of the attacker and the strengths and weaknesses of the enemies you face.

Beware of dead ends!

Exploration is key in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but don't venture into hidden places with such serenity. In fact, often behind blind alleys some enemies will be well hidden, waiting to ambush you, just like on Dark Souls to be clear.

Do not fall like chickens into these tricks and analyze the world around you, holes in the ground can portend attacks by moles or if you see many cobwebs, expect the attack from some dangerous wyyyschokk.

Heal only when necessary

Our Cal can take a fair amount of hits before dying, even in Jedi Knight and Jedi Master difficulty. So don't worry if his health bar flashes red, it doesn't necessarily mean you're dying.

In fact, in these cases it can happen that you miss two or three shots before passing. So take care only when you are convinced that you need it.

Using medkits wisely will also help you in the wave battles that you will have to face in the game. In these battles you will go from hordes of ferocious beasts to waves of Stormtroopers that will face you three at a time.
