    Battlefield 11 Battleblog # 3:

The classic Battlefield Conquest and Rush game modes are back in Battlefield 3, along with exciting new additions that make this the biggest and deepest Battlefield ever. From infantry close combat in Team Deathmatch and Squad Deathmatch to all-out objective warfare - Battlefield 3 has it all. All 9 huge multiplayer maps adapt to all 5 modes, effectively giving you 45 distinct multiplayer experiences to choose from. Without waiting any longer, here are the 5 modes available at launch in detail. What they are, what is the purpose of each, and how they are played.

    Team Deathmatch

    Availability: on all 9 maps

    Players: 24 (12 vs. 12)

    Focus: Team infantry combat

Purpose: To eliminate a predefined number of enemy fighters.

Team Deathmatch is a true classic when it comes to multiplayer modes, and made its appearance in a Battlefield series game up until the original Battlefield 1942. In Team Deathmatch, two teams of 12 players move in tightly packed maps with a definite focus on infantry - there are no vehicles in Team Deathmatch. For those who want fast and immediate action, this is the perfect mode. For new Battlefield players, this is a good place to start. Once you've mastered the infantry gameplay, you can move on to deeper modes, which include the unmistakable vehicle warfare that Battlefield is known and loved for.

    Squad Deathmatch

    Availability: on all 9 maps

    Players: 16 (4 teams of 4)

    Focus: Squad Infantry Combat

Purpose: To eliminate a predefined number of enemy fighters.

How to win: The team that reaches the set number of kills first is the winner.

How to win: The team that reaches the set number of kills first is the winner.

Squad Deathmatch is a wider and more dynamic variety of deathmatch that also includes anti-infantry vehicles (IFVs). IFVs can be decisive in breaking a deadlock, as long as it is supported by a solid game of Engineers. The 4-team setting means there is a constant battle throughout the game to gain and maintain the advantage. Staying together, keeping the team well cared for, stocked, and repaired are the keys to victory. The team that manages to combine Battlefield's unique mix of team play and combat prowess will be the winner.

    race

    Availability: on all 9 maps

    Players: 24/32 (Console / PC)

    Focus: Total war by objectives

Purpose: Attack / Defend M-COM stations

How to win: Destroying all M-COM stations / Exhausting opponent's respawns (Attackers / Defenders)

First introduced in Battlefield: Bad Company, Corsa has now entered the heart of the series with Battlefield 3. An objective-based mode, attackers must arm and detonate pairs of M-COM stations in each area of the map to unlock the next area and the following pair of M-COM stations. While Defenders have unlimited respawns, Attackers only get new respawns every time they destroy a pair of M-COMs. If all stations on the map are destroyed, the attackers are the winners. If the defenders reduce their respawns to zero (by killing them), the defenders get the victory.

Being an all-out war mode, Corsa is characterized by a large variety of vehicle settings specific to the landscape and the particularities of the map. Players can find all kinds of vehicles on the Corsa maps, including transport vehicles, armored vehicles, helicopters, and of course jets. Racing offers an exciting all-out war game mode for Battlefield veterans.

If this mode is familiar to you from Battlefield: Bad Company 2, you'll be pleased to know that we're refining it for Battlefield 3 in a number of ways based on player input. Some of the changes we are making to Corsa are:

    * You cannot use explosives or shoot M-COMs to destroy them. Just arm and disarm them.

    * If the attacking team arms the M-COM but finishes respawns, the match will continue until the M-COM explodes or the defenders disarm it.

    * If the defenders start disarming an M-COM an instant before it explodes, the explosion is blocked until the disarm has occurred. If the defender is killed during the disarm process, the M-COM will explode instantly.

    Team Race

    Availability: on all 9 maps

    Players: 8 (4 vs. 4)

    Focus: Squad Infantry Combat

Purpose: Attack / Defend M-COM stations

How to win: Destroying all M-COM stations / Exhausting opponent's respawns (Attackers / Defenders)

Squad Corsa is the ultimate test to understand which team is the top of the top. Squad Racing is an extremely close duel between two teams that borrows the basic rules from normal Racing, but in a more restricted context. In Squad Corsa there are only two bases with an M-COM station for each, which means that every M-COM taken or defended in Squad Corsa is vital to victory or defeat in the game. There are no vehicles in Squad rush, so it all depends on your infantry fighting skills.

To be successful, it is imperative that you and your companions customize your soldiers to complement them in the field, so that they continue to regenerate fallen companions, supply ammo, and perform other vital actions. Squad Racing is often preferred by players who know their respective play styles in depth and want to show their prowess in the most personal combat scenario.

    Conquest

    Availability: on all 9 maps

    Players: 16-24 / 16-64 (Console / PC)

    Focus: Total war by objectives

Purpose: To capture and hold the flags

How to win: Exhausting opponents' respawns

Conquest is arguably the most classic Battlefield game mode. Introduced in Battlefield 1942, Conquest defined the entire Battlefield series (and influenced so many other games out there) and represents everything that makes Battlefield great. Set on a large-scale map series, Conquest is the most suitable mode for the total vehicle warfare experience. In Conquest, two teams battle for control of a number of flags trying to be the dominant force in the vicinity of each base. Capture and maintain control of the largest number of flags and the opposing team will lose respawn. The first team to finish them lost.

Conquest is a strategic and tactical game that will often require you to make important decisions about whether to attack an enemy base or defend your own. Your forces will rarely be enough to capture and defend every base on the map, so in-game communication and responsiveness are needed to win. Of all the modes invented by DICE, Conquest will always have a special place in our hearts.

Modify your game with Fanatic and Infantry options

Not a fan of vehicles? No problem - click on the "Infantry Only" box in your server browser when looking for a game where no attack vehicles will appear, only transports. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with the game or map before the actual war begins.

Want a more lethal and tactical mode where the risk and rewards are even higher? With the Fanatic Mode setting, we leave you on the battlefield without much outside help from the game interface. This modifier will test the limits of your abilities.
