A sweet Rogue Like

RemiLore: Lost Girl in the Lands of Lore, hereafter referred to as RemiLore for convenience, is an action-adventure title with Rogue Like mechanics, developed by Pixellore and published by the talented team Nicalis (The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth / Afterbirth +) .

Ahhh… a talking Book !!!

RemiLore tells the story of Remi, a young high school student who accidentally awakens a magical talking book named Lore.

Upon awakening, the powerful book transports himself and the girl to the magical World of Ragnoah full of enemies and mechas. The dynamic duo will have to face an intense event before returning home.

The aim of the game is to eliminate the various enemies that will parry in front of you within the zones, and move on to the next stage. All without forgetting to open chests and collect sweets (this is the currency of the game).

RemiLore can be defined as a Rogue Lite, as some mechanics are in full Rogue style, such as randomly generated levels, others instead reflect most action-adventure titles.

Cute and fun gameplay, but without mercy ...

The mechanics of RemiLore are not very complicated, in fact with the A and X keys of the Joy-Con you will attack with the young Remi, with B you will use the shot, finally with ZL you can resort to the magic that our friend Lore makes available to us.

The game has within it 213 weapons divided by class and rarity, starting from the broom that our Remi wields from the beginning to huge swords, passing through gloves and hammers. Each weapon will provide you with a different magic, from a series of shots fired at a beam to one capable of blocking the time around you.

At first glance you will surely be fooled by the colors and the beautiful music, passing through the amusing bickering between the protagonist and the magical talking book, but do not forget that under all this light climate there is a ruthless title.

In fact, RemiLore is a fairly punishing title, just think that if you die the game will force you to start the act from the beginning.

Inside the game there are 2 shops, the first deals exclusively with the sale of objects and to get them you will have to accumulate a fair number of sweets. The other instead will allow you to improve your equipment of melee weapons, spells and potions, it will be particularly useful to continue the adventure.

Game mode

RemiLore is divided into 3 game modes:

  • Story: tells the adventures that our Remi in the company of the Magical Lore face in the world of Ragnoah, enriched by interlude scenes and dialogues;
  • Single Player / Cooperative: a few chatter, you move on to the action in single or in the company of a friend.

Unfortunately, the game only has one save slot, so you won't be able to tackle Story and Co-op mode at the same time.

Technical Department

RemiLore is characterized by a very cartoon graphic style, which undoubtedly makes the adventure of this particular duo enjoyable. The view is isometric and allows us a perfect overview of the environment that surrounds us from enemies, in the presence of any chests.

The character design is well structured, able to show well-made models, unfortunately, however, the concentration of the development team has only focused on the main characters, leading to a poor variety of enemies.

The frame rate in both docked and portable mode is fixed at 30 fps.

The sound, on the other hand, leaves something to be desired, in fact the background music seems to derive from a mobile game and not of the highest level. Different speech is that of the dubbing, in fact it is well structured, to the point of being often witty and convincing.

Sorry that Spanish has not been taken into consideration, unfortunately it happens too often with our language.

replayability

The first run of RemiLore is not particularly long-lived, but the game focuses on replayability, in fact the procedural generation of levels, loot and enemies makes everything always new and replayable indefinitely (or almost).

    -Interesting and immediate gameplay ...
    - Huge amount of weapons / costumes to obtain
    - Highly replayable
    - Good quality Japanese dubbing ...
Cons
    - ... but there is nothing new
    - Lack of multiple save slots
    - Poor variety of enemies
    - ... but unfortunately the Spanish localization is missing
Summary RemiLore: Lost Girl in the Land of Lore is an interesting Rogue-Like, which turns out to be a fun pastime both alone and in company. The game, however, clearly lacks depth, in fact the variety of enemies is obviously scarce and the lack of originality does not help. The elements that could make you choose this game (after having thoroughly stripped Diablo III on Switch) are certainly related to the graphics sector, as the colors and the cartoonish atmosphere are pleasant to see and the great replayability that the title is able to offer, thanks to the procedural generation of maps. If you want to give RemiLore a chance, you just have to wait for a slight price drop and dive into the Magical World of Ragnoah. GameplayGraphicsSoundLongevityFinal Judgment
