Dark Souls III Trophy / Achievement Guide

Are you ready to give in to the dark side?

Two years after the release of Dark Souls II and just over a year after the publication of the definitive edition Scholar of the First Sin, From Software e Bandai Namco Entertainment, are ready to amaze the fans again, of one of the videogame series, probably, among the most important and influential of the last decade; with Dark Souls III, the Japanese software house, tried to "repair" the "small" mistakes made with the previous chapter, essentially characterized by a lower game difficulty, therefore within the reach of a greater number of players, and some changes related to landscapes and to the explorable places that in practice were not up to the level of what was seen in the very first chapter of the series.

In this guide we will try to "guide you" to obtaining the coveted Platinum, showing that you have really decided to sell your "precious" soul.

Where do I start?

Finally the last work of Hidetaka Miyazaki e Isamu Okanu is among us; surely it will not be a walk to get all the Dark Souls III trophies but if you are already "veterans" of the Action / RPG developed by From Software and have 100% completed the previous chapters of the series you should not have particular "problems" in bringing to complete DS3 and get all the collectibles present. As imaginable, the following guide contains possible Spoilers and descriptions about the plot of the game, therefore, before continuing reading, think about it carefully.

The trophies available in the game are 43 divided in 26 of Bronze (24 are hidden), 13 Silver, 3 Gold and naturally 1 of Platinum; they can be obtained / unlocked in various ways or by defeating the Bosses (optional or not, in total there are 18), adhering to all the available Pacts, maximizing their Weapons, the Estus and Bonfires (essential for fast travels) and collecting all the various objects such as: Miracles, Pyromancies and Rings.

Definitive Estus

Strengthens the Estus flask to the maximum.

We can tell you that there are 11 Flasks in Dark Souls 3 and of course you will have to collect them all to get the relevant trophy. Initially, the use of the Estus is really limited and therefore it will be necessary to carefully weigh how many uses must be assigned to the normal Estus flask, i.e. suitable for recovering life points and how many uses instead to the Estus Cinereo flask to recover the action points. During our adventure, it will be possible to upgrade the Estus, collecting all 11 fragments and every time you get one, you will have to go to Andre the Blacksmith in the Altar to define the intended use of the flask (life points or action points).

Here are the points where the 11 fragments are located:

  • Walls of Lothric Castle
  • Undead settlement
  • Road of Sacrifices
  • Streets of Sacrifices
  • Cathedral of the Depth
  • Carthus Catacombs
  • Irithyll Prison
  • Irythill of the Boreal Valley
  • Walls of Lothric Castle
  • Lothric Castle
  • Altar of the Bond

NB: Try to give the right weight to the search for both the fragments of Estus and the splinters of bone, as they could really be of fundamental importance in the most difficult battles.

It is the first Pact to which it will be possible to adhere and it is outside the "Walls of Lothric Castle“; Go to the Courtyard, where you fought against Vordt of the Royal Valley, you will find a large church, inside which, on a chair, one is seated Priestess; talk to the Priestess, who will first hand you a flag and then the Pact itself. If you miss the item, don't worry, as Emma will release it later, after you have defeated three Lords of the Embers.

Covenant: Blue Sentinels

Discover the Covenant of the Blue Sentinels.

It represents the fourth Covenant to which you can adhere and also represents the "simplest" to obtain. To collect this Pact, you will need to be in possession of the item Blue Sentinels that you can find on the Road of Sacrifices, close to Bonfire of the Fortezza di Mezzo, after defeating Granbosco the Cursed Forest, simply by talking to Horace the mute, who, of course, will not utter any words but will deliver the object you are looking for.

Covenant: Blade of the Dark Moon

Discover the Darkmoon Blade Covenant.

It represents the eighth and last Pact to which one can adhere; at this point in the game, you should already be in possession of all the other Pacts present. To join this Covenant, you will need to get hold of the corresponding object, which can be found in the area Irythill of the Boreal Valley close to Bonfire of Anor Londo. Go back where you came from, going down the stairs of the Tower, you will notice a Bridge / Passage (invisible) that seems to be about to collapse, near a Bonfire, do not be alarmed, continue and you will meet the Captain Yorshka,
or the Leader of the Covenant himself.

In order to obtain the Covenant, it will also be necessary to have one of the Hand Gestures correspondents named NPC Sirris (i.e. bowing); alternatively, you can kill Yorshka and collect the object from the corpse of the victim but in this way you will not be able to offer the items provided for obtaining valuable rewards, until the New Game +. Furthermore, if at this point in the game, you have already obtained the "Pact of Rosaria ", you will not be able to join the Pact "Blade of the Dark Moon " until the next Playthrough; in this case you can also kill Yorshka as until the next session you will not be able to join the pact in question.

Pact: Rosaria's fingers

Discover Rosaria's Pact of Fingers.

It is the sixth Pact present in the game, and to obtain it, you must first of all be in possession of the corresponding object which is located near the "Cathedral of the Depth", close to Bonfire of the Chapel of Purification. After defeating the Deacons of the Deep, take the elevator and go up to the roof of the Cathedral, arrived at the top, descend on the balcony and you will find a staircase, go up and exit on the roof and identify a path which will lead you to a room with a Hidden bonfire within which there will be a vermiform being called Rosaria.

Speaking with Rosaria, you can get the corresponding Pact; one of the bonus features obtainable thanks to the Pact itself is that of being able restore Skill Points and be able to modify the Characteristics of your character.

Covenant: Mound Makers

Discover the Covenant of the Cairn Makers.

To join this Pact, you will need to be in possession of the corresponding object that you can find in the area where you fought and defeated Granbosco the Cursed Forest; before the clash with this Boss, starting from the Undead settlement, you will have to reach the area where there is a burning tree and some undead who are praying; continue on your right, crossing the bridge, take the path that is on your right, from here identify and climb a ladder and you will find yourself in front of a monster that tries to hit you with a blowpipe, go around it, passing through the opposite side of the roof and you will notice that these have a cage on their shoulders.

The enemy is not particularly problematic nor aggressive, all you have to do is reach the creature's shoulders and analyze the cage it has on its shoulders; after a fairly short interlude, you will find yourself inside a Well of the Vacui, in the area where you would have had to face the Boss Forest the Cursed Forest and all you have to do is talk to an NPC to get the relative Pact. The pact can also be obtained after fighting with the Boss, in essence it should (sometimes) appear some sort of mark or sign of the Convocation, right in the area or rather on the ground where the "Boss Fight" took place; in essence, this mark will allow you to teleport to an area below, in which, in order to join the Pact, it will be necessary to defeat a mini-boss.

Covenant: Guardians of Farron

Discover the Covenant of the Guardians of Farron.

To join the Covenant, it will be necessary to obtain the corresponding object, which can be found near the Fort of Farron. Walk around the ruins and find a staircase, go up it and here, you will meet the "Old Wolf of Farron“, Who is sleeping, pray near him and in this way you will accept to become part of the Covenant. If you fail to pray to the Wolf, it means that he was killed by an NPC previously.

Covenant: Followers of Aldrich

Discover the Aldrich Pact of Followers.

Seventh Pact of the game; to get it, it will be necessary to have the corresponding object, which is located near the area Irythill of the Boreal Valley near the Bonfire where you defeated Sulyvahn the High Priest and it will be provided to you by Archdeacon McDonnell. After defeating the relative Boss, exit and on your left go up the stairs, go through the area full of dead Giants and go up the stairs and then go through the arch at the top. All you have to do is knock down a wall on your left, beyond which there is a staircase that will take you to a flooded underground area where you will meet Archdeacon McDonnel who will give you access to the Pact.

Forgotten tombs

Reach the Forgotten Tombs.

To access this "Secret Area" you will have to defeat "Oceiros, the Consumed King“; there is also a Bonfire in the area where the fight with the Boss took place, which can be used to make quick movements. Anyway, open the door and continue along the path that is placed in front of you; identify a chest and knock down the wall behind it, in this way you will be able to discover the “Untended Graves” and unlock the relevant game trophy.

Summit of the Archdrag

Reach the summit of the Archdrag.

To access this "Secret Area" you will have to defeat "Oceiros, the Consumed King“, Which represents the 13th of 18 Bosses available in game. At the end of the battle, open the door located in the battle area, which will lead you to the Gesture "Old DragonWhich you will naturally have to collect; now travel towards Prisons of Irithyll and cross the area until you reach a viewpoint with a Dragon statue (there is also a lift in the immediate vicinity). Use the Gesture and a cutscene will start; to get the relative trophy "Summit of the Archdrag“All you have to do is walk up the hill for a while and that's it.

Video Demonstration: Dark Souls III - Summit of the Archdragon.

Gundyr, the Judge

Defeat Gundyer, the Judge.

He is a so-called Boss of "heating“, Not particularly difficult to deal with but which could still lead to small problems if we do not pay due attention. The clash, as for the other Bosses, will consist of two phases.

To begin the fight, you will have to extract a spear from his chest and try to attack him immediately to take away a good amount of life energy; about halfway through the fight, Gundyr he will be more aggressive but still it will be quite easy to defeat him, as his attacks are easily parable with the shield or you can dodge them and roll behind him to counterattack.

Video demonstration: Dark Souls III - Gundyr, the Judge.

NB If you are playing with the Sorcerer or Pyromancer class, try to keep some distance from the enemy.

 Vordt of the Boreal Valley

Defeat Vordt of the Boreal Valley.

Second Boss of the game, which is characterized by physical grandeur and for his powerful attacks, which is why, using the shield is almost useless, as it will break the first hit received. To get the better of Vordt you have to follow two "simple" tactics, evade / break the enemy attack, mostly by rolling and dodging the attack itself and then attacking, better if you can get behind him. Remember what has been said and you will get the better of this Boss.

Video demonstration: Dark Souls III - Vordt of the Boreal Valley.

Granbosco, the cursed forest

Defeat Forest Wood, the Cursed Forest.

Although it is a Optional boss, as after defeating him you will necessarily have to go back, you should face him and defeat him as it will allow you to access the fundamental and very useful "Transposition of Souls“, That is a procedure through which it will be possible to convert the souls of the defeated Bosses into objects and above all weapons that will facilitate us not a little in the continuation of our adventure.

Video demonstration: Dark Souls III - Greatwood, the cursed forest.

NB to defeat Granbosco, it will simply be necessary to destroy the eggs that develop on some parts of the plant; the best strategy is to run and destroy the eggs as fast as possible.

Crystal Sage

Defeat the Crystal Sage.

It is a very powerful wizard who has a series of magic and illusions on his side. Patience and attention and you will take home the fight!

Video Demonstration: Dark Souls III - Sagg
I of Crystal.

Deacons of the Deep

Defeat the Deacons of the Deep.

Enemies that taken individually, do not create "almost" any problem but collectively can really make a difference especially because they make use of a plurality of attacks to which we must pay some attention.

It is necessary to take into account that the individual Deacons, after they have died, they will be reborn in a different point and this could make the clash with such enemy / s not very easy; the best strategy is to focus on Boss (characterized by a red glow that in the first part of the fight in practice he will move from one enemy to another) and not on the other enemies as once defeated, all the others will die with him.

Precisely the second phase of the Boss Fight is the most complicated one, as although the red glow will be located on a single enemy, all the others will act as a shield and use a sort of spell that could even lead to death. Abandon the prudence and patience of the first phase of the clash and try to damage the main Boss as soon as possible as the more you procrastinate, the more the clash will become insidious and difficult to complete.

Video Demonstration: Dark Souls III - Deacons of the Deep.

NB the Boss is glowing red.

Wolnir, the Supreme Lord

Defeat Wolnir, the overlord.

Boss simple enough to defeat as you just need to hit and destroy the golden rings on his arms, in the meantime trying to avoid his punches and an insidious purple mist.

Video Demonstration: Dark Souls III - Wolnir, the Overlord.

Sulyvahn, the Great Priest

Defeat Sulyvahn, the High Priest.

If you have found most of the fragments of the Estus, facing Sulyvahn will not be a problem at all, who will use two swords and a ghost of himself to hinder you (in the second part of the fight, which is not particularly insidious ).

In the first part, the fight will not be difficult at all, keep a certain proximity and parry the attacks by raising your shield then try to launch 1 or 2 attacks in sequence and be patient especially because, given the height of the enemy, most of his attacks will fail. After unleashing a series of attacks and thereby inflicting considerable damage, Sulyvahn will fall to his knees; wait for it to get up and continue the fight, attacking every time it stops its momentum.

When you face Sulyvahn and his "ghost" try to keep them in the same direction as the attacks (identical) alternate at a short distance from each other; when you attack, surely you will also inflict damage on the main Boss but remember, the sooner you kill his "ghost" the better otherwise you might even find another one in front of you.

Video Demonstration: Dark Souls III - Sulyvhan, the Great Priest.

NB You need a shield that allows you to absorb 100% of the attacks.

Dancer of the Boreal Valley

Defeat Dancer of the Boreal Valley.

It also uses two swords to unleash powerful slashes, arm yourself with a decent shield, outwit it when it unleashes its attacks and hide when it whirls its swords and / or uses the grappling hook and you will surely have the best.

Video demonstration: Dark Souls III - Dancer of the Boreal Valley.

Dragon Slayer armor

Defeat the Dragon Slayer Armor.

Using a large and powerful shield and an ax, facing him head-on will be almost impossible but by appropriately dodging his attacks and hitting him repeatedly (stunning him in such a way as to inflict more substantial damage), this Boss Fight can be easily won.

Video Demonstration: Dark Souls III - Dragon Slayer Armor.

 Vec
the Demon King

Defeat the Old Demon King.

Optional boss and very slow when he unleashes his powerful attacks. The best time to attack the enemy is when the enemy prepares to launch his most powerful attack, consisting of a series of meteors, place a series of slashes and then roll away and wait.

Video demonstration: Dark Souls III - Old Demon King.

Oceiros, the Consumed King

Defeat Oceiros, the Consumed King.

It uses a large piece of wood to inflict its own attacks, physical attacks and magic (AOE attacks); try to stay between his legs in such a way as to attack him and dodge if he uses magic to counterattack.

Video Demonstration: Dark Souls III - Oceiros, the Consumed King.

Gundyr, the Champion

Defeat Gundyr, the Champion.

It represents an "enhanced" version of Gundyr, the Judge, which is the very first Boss / Tutorial of the game; to defeat him, for better or worse, the procedure is almost similar to what was previously written for Oceiros. So dodge his slashes and try to place a couple of knockbacks and then retreat; keep doing this until the enemy's life energy drops to 50% and the second phase of the fight begins.

Gundyr will basically transform and his attacks will have greater range and damage; dodge and attack and remember, as the enemy will be vulnerable to fire, to use pyromancies and bombs, so you should get the better of it pretty quickly.

Video Demonstration: Dark Souls III - Gundyr, the Champion.

Ancient Wyvern

Defeat Ancient Wyvern.

One hit and he will DIE; you just need to launch a single attack to defeat it (preferably from above).

Video demonstration: Dark Souls III - Ancient Wyvern.

The Nameless King

Defeat the Nameless King.

Despite being an optional Boss, he is certainly the toughest, most equipped and most difficult to defeat if you are not well prepared. It is necessary to have a "GreatshieldOr a shield that can adequately protect you from its ferocious attacks. The advice is to keep below the 70% the weight of your "equipment" so that you can roll faster and recover your stamina first. The problems related to the health of our character, could take over in the second part of the fight and for this reason it is better to have 10+ flasks of Estus (15 would be better) and be of level 100+ with a high amount of health.

In the first part of the fight, the enemy will ride a Dragon, but basically, once you understand the attack pattern, this part won't be complicated at all. Aim at his head to deal as much damage as possible and try to stay under his head so that his attacks fail. Whenever he is flying, try to escape as fast as possible in order to avoid the fire attacks and do not use the shield as, in this phase, it would be completely useless. In the second part of the fight it is necessary to use the protective shield that will provide us with a precious help to defend ourselves from the aggressive attacks of the enemy who could kill us with 2/3 well-aimed blows.

The counterattack scheme is very simple, defend yourself with the shield, parry the attacks and counterattack once and repeat, trying to stay as close as possible to him; if you do everything properly, that is to avoid his 2/3 lethal blows or a single blow of a certain power, you will also be able to stun him and then stab him to death and put up to the clash.

NB: Patience!

 Connect the First Flame

Reach the “Connecting the First Flame” ending.

It represents the "simplest" game ending to get, as it will be enough to defeat the final Boss of the game, that is the Soul of Tizzoni and interact with the bonfire that will appear by selecting the “YES” option. Of course, this final will also unlock the relative trophy / objective.

Video: Dark Souls III - “Connecting the First Flame” finale.

 The End of Fire

Reach the "The End of Fire" ending.

As for the second game ending, there are two versions but only the first will make you also get the relative trophy / objective; for each of the two alternate endings, certain actions will need to be taken.

The End of Fire - First Version

To get the "First Version" of the ending, you will need to find the eyes in the area called Forgotten Tombs; once you have these eyes, you will need to return to the Sanctuary, which is the hub of the game and hand over the eyes to the Keeper of Fire. Once this is done, you can face the final Boss, the Soul of Embers and after defeating him, you will not have to interact with the Bonfire in any way (because in this way you will unlock the ending: Connect the First Flame), but rather looking for earth, on the left, you will be able to notice an inscription, interact with it, which will allow you to invoke the Keeper, selecting the appropriate option "YES" and enjoy the ending.

The End of Fire - Second / Alternative Version

To get the "Second Version" of the ending, the steps are the same, except for the final part; it will be necessary to find the eyes in the named area Abandoned Tombs; once you have these eyes, you will need to return to the Sanctuary, which is the hub of the game and hand over the eyes to the Keeper of the Fire. Once this is done, you can face the final Boss, the Soul of Embers and after defeating him, you will not have to interact with the Bonfire in any way (because in this way you will unlock the ending: Connect the First Fimma), but rather looking for ground, on the left, you can see an inscription, interact with it, selecting the appropriate option "YES". During the scene, you will have to hit the Keeper of Fire who is praying in front of the Bonfire and in this way you will unlock the "Alternative Version" of The End of Fire.

Video: Dark Souls III - “The End of Fire” finale.

 The Conquest of Fire

Reach the “Conquest of Fire” ending.

Of course, being Dark Souls III and not just any game, the difficulties or rather the complexities to unlock the last game ending are quite high. In order to unlock this ending it is necessary to proceed step by step, following a series of Quest that will last throughout our adventure, without skipping even one of the steps that we are going to list below:

  1. First talk to Yoel to the Village of the Undead and accept his services so that he appears at the Altar of the Binding.
  2. Go to the Altar of the Binding and talk to Yoel, who will level you up.
  3. You will have to kill yourself eight times in a row (jump off the cliff).
  4. Go up four levels (you can go up two levels for every two deaths)
  5. Yoel will die and will consequently be replaced by Yuria. Notice Well, to make it appear, you should travel to another Bonfire and go back again.
  6. In the Road of Sacrifices, near the Middle Fortress, talk to the Knight in Light Armor Anri of Astonia.
  7. After defeating the Deacons of the Deep, talk to Anri again at the Altar of the Binding.
  8. Face the Bos
s the soul of Ember the "Guardians of the Abyss" and after defeating him, go to the Catacombs of Carthus and talk to Anri (on the right of the first bridge).
  9. After talking to Anri again (near the crumbling bridge near the Carthus Catacombs), get off and enter the Burning Lake in which, before facing and defeating the Boss Wolnir the Supreme Lord (otherwise he will kill Anri by completing or rather making you "fail" the Quest to obtain the last ending of the game), you will have to kill Horace.
  10. Go back to Anri and talk to him / her again.
  11. Near the Boreal Valley Irithyll Bonfire, talk to Anri in Yorshka Church.
  12. Face and defeat the Boss Sulyvhan the High Priest and return to the Shrine (Altar of the Binding) to talk to Yuria.
  13. In the Irythill area of the Boreal Valley, under the Anor Londo Bonfire, complete the ceremony with Anri.
  14. After returning to Yuria, talk to us for the last time and face the final Boss the Soul of Embers, then interact with the bonfire and enjoy the last and most "grueling" ending of the game to get.
  15. Congratulations, you did it!
